Meet Thea. She started on the Ookkie at just 11 months old!
We spoke to Thea's mum, Anika, to learn a bit more about her journey with the Ookkie. Here's what she had to say.
What was your reason for getting an Ookkie?
It's a nice activity to spend time together outdoors. Thea can be active herself and thus improve her self-confidence, balance and stability when standing and keeping her balance.
Describe the learning experience on the Ookkie for us.
I was a little skeptical the day the Ookkie arrived. Thea absolutely didn't want to stand on it. I gave her a little time to discover the board by just stopping it from rolling. On the same day she stood on the board with help, and 2 days later stood up without us having to give her any help.
Do you get any comments when you're out and about riding the board?
Yes! 'Little racer' 'what a cool board' and 'how cute'. People are just very surprised that a little girl who is only 11 months old can skateboard.
How has the Ookkie helped your little one in their development?
It's hard to say, but she can now stand for a moment without holding on, and who knows, maybe she'll take her first steps soon!
How has the Ookkie become a part of your family life and routine?
When my husband comes home we take our dog Pille for a walk and we always take the Ookkie with us. Thea then rides her Ookkie on the level sidewalks. We went to the skate park this weekend for the first time and had so much fun!
